In Part 1, I shared some of the major infrastructure projects completed in District 1 since 2022.

But infrastructure is about more than large construction projects. It’s also about fighting to deliver better street maintenance, improved lighting, enhanced safety, and continued investment in our neighborhoods.

Street Maintenance Highlights

2023–2024 Asphalt Maintenance:

  • Hall – MLK to Sandy Point

  • Commerce – Creek to W. 28th

  • S. Sterling – W. 28th to W. 27th

  • Helena, Day, Moran & Mary Lake – Holick to Cavitt/Texas

  • Harvey – Graham Dr. to Fannin

  • Sims Ave. – 22nd Street to N. Bryan

2025 Concrete Street Maintenance:

  • Sims – MLK to W. Pruitt; W. 23rd to W. 21st

  • Carson sidewalk improvements near Stripes

  • Cavitt – Howard to Lake; Waverly to Lawrence; Edge to Oak; Oak area improvements

Traffic & Safety Enhancements

  • New street markings in Downtown Bryan and key roundabouts

  • New LED lighting at:

    • Beck & Suncrest

    • Commerce & Cade

    • Sims & 23rd

    • Additional lighting underway at Oakwood Cemetery

    • New digital speed limit signs on Sims Avenue

    • Enhanced speed monitoring on WJB

These may seem like individual projects, but together they make a difference in the safety, mobility, and quality of life of District 1 and Bryan residents.

And there is even more on the way. You Asked, and I’ve Delivered!

Stay tuned for Part 3 — What’s Coming to District 1 Through 2030.
